The M3 Max MacBook pro won't be a bad choice IMO
Even the base model Mac Studio M2 Max will work perfectly for recording, mixing and producing o/ Enjoy ( I also didn' t wait for M3)
I’ll make it simple, Any M series chips seem to be the standard in the industry right now. Yes they release a new one every year but that’s great for consumers , the upgrades they are making every year to these chips are amazing but minimal when compared to the year before. So if cost is a concern I’d go with a M1 Max studio and have all the bells and whistles from that chip set and not feel like your missing out on performance. But again that’s my opinion and understanding of performance these machines that are coming out. Don’t be afraid to some research there are a lot of great videos that go into depth on this topic (especially ones that apply to music/audio production) hope this helps:)
In my drum studio I work with an M2 Max Mac Studio 1TB 64 RAM, no GPU upgrade. It's a great machine. Handles lots of tracks in Cubase and a multicam setup running into OBS for streaming & content recording. The only thing I didn't test is its editing capabilities. But for some Social Media & UA-cam Clips it should be more than sufficient I guess. Having said that, I do all my mixing & editing on a Windows 10 Intel i7 machine that needs to be replaced as well because I get CPU spikes & dropouts now if my Cubase Projects are too big. So I've thought about buying a MacBook Pro M3 Max to replace that machine. That way I could use it for drum clinics & gigs as well. But since I only have one workshop ahead of me and almost no gigs to play, that could be the wrong move. I'm struggling as well. Should I get that M3 Max MBP or wait for an M4 Max Mac Studio? ... Tough call.
It’s a tough one isn’t it, hold out and wait or take the plunge. My MacBook Pro just isn’t cutting it at all and I don’t think I can really hold on another year.
I don’t clean my cymbals. It’s against my religion
Agreed, although there is one I want to clean.
What is the weight on this? I have one of these same era. It’s my main ride but from this clip, I think mine is much heavier (2900g). Mine is not crashable at all. It would gong through the end of the following song. I also have a very early 20” K custom brilliant ride, a 21” K sweet ride, and a 20” K Con med thin low and the heavy is my go to for most gigs
Who packaged that? For 500 bucks, i want a box
I was expecting a box but it still survived.
Having a kit set up and not being able to play it is a special kind of torture.
It is torture especially since I have had a major setback.
Very nice! I just picked up a 22" K Pre Aged Dry Light ride and it is incredible. It's light and shimmery like this, just an early 90's model pre-serial. This one would pair well with it!
Those early Pre-Aged rides are just so buttery and nice to play, awesome find my friend.
I can only go on the sound you were able to show us, but to me I think the shell would serve better in a deeper drum!
I agree and I would love to get the 14x8 but not at 5k.
Imagine having the most expensive drums ever made and putting the cheapest heads on it lol
Hello my kind sir. Can i buy this snare from you?🤣
I appear to be getting this a lot lately.
@@IAMDRUMMER sooooo is thar a consideration? 🤣🤣🤣
Old lol?!
Me or the cymbal?
@@IAMDRUMMER oh, i remember when they came out, and you calling it old hits hard
It's old to me but when did they actually come out?
@@IAMDRUMMER early 2000’s maybe. Around there. I remember those reverse china’s with the weird mount. Its not a bell...my friend back then had one. I could be wrong and they can be older. It was around the time that cymbal spring mounts were invented. If you dont have one. Its highly recommended for chinas. Though this one has that reinforced inverted mount. Back then people took the bell curve chinas and would mount them upside down and the bell cracked. But with the spring loaded mounts. You get a really nice soft splash to it and it sustains better. N the cymbal lasts. Too, if those spring cymbal mounts are great for rides. Or any oddly shaped cymbal. Yours doesnt technically “need” it though... it was designed so it wouldnt crack. But i always found these wuhans to have inferior tone. Good for heavy metal where you dont care.
@@IAMDRUMMERlook up spring cymbal mounts. Idk whats all been evolved in the last 20 years. But i use the aquariums. Its got a silicone pad that holds the cymbal and they used to have two spring tensions i think. The light is best for chinas. They are weird to hit at first. Cause the cymbals sort of moves with the stick. But once you get used to it. You will love it.
“YIMEHA”
It’s pretty sweet.
drummers = hacks..Hacks = drummers
I’m a hack at most things.
I love Dave Grohls drumming and music
Same here brother, how are you and the family, think about all you guys on a daily basis. I hope you are doing ok.
I have a 22X16 Whte Recording bass drum to match that Yamaha kit....Want it?? Ralph Onofrio
That white kit you can see is a Pearl BLX, if you have that in white then yes please.
Looks like my Yamaha Rock tour drums in back of you......Ralph Onofrio
The two Yamaha kits are an original Maple Custom and a Birch Custom Nouveau.
What's the tune behind your moderation starting at 0:56?
Ubiquitous, it's a free track in the UA-cam audio library.
Very nice, like to put them on my DW.set.
I think you should give them a crack.
The inbody mic probably isnt greant and probably doesnt have a great pickup patten. You could try a cheap shotgun mic. What model of canon is it? And what video mode is it in?
I use a Rode shotgun mic usually but for some videos I’ll use a Rode Wireless Go as you can see, when you shoot video everything defaults and can’t be changed. Another thing is being a Canon it’s limited to 29.59 of record time so I am looking at a new camera and a lens for my BMCP4k.
When you do a full video, please give details about the ply layup (the order of wood species and grain orientation) and how it differs from the 45th anniversary DW kit, which doesn't seem to have as powerful a sound as this 50th anniversary kit. Also, is there a weight difference between those kits? That would be helpful to learn. This 50th anniversary kit seems like a real triumph by DW!
I’ll be going in to full detail on all kits with weights and grain orientation.
Sounds good to me! I think you did it right.
I can’t keep up with these trends especially when it comes to drums.
@@IAMDRUMMER Your doing better than me. Your drums sound amazing!
All I can do is try, when they are mic'd up might need a lot more tuning.
@@IAMDRUMMER I don’t think you will need to. I think you got the source being the drums right. It will be how you record them. That’s what I think. Next step is getting the drums miced up and input levels good, and all that. You got the drums sounding great!
Love your shirt man, gorgeous kit, but still awesome shirt.
I am a true lover and supporter of ARSE, seriously the kit is phenomenal in every way.
What a beauty! How do the Evans heads compare to the stock DW's?
The stock heads get the job done but the EVANS heads make this kit truly what it is and that’s remarkable.
@@IAMDRUMMER Looks like Evans UV1's on the toms. What resonant heads did you end up going with?
I will be going with clar G1's but I will be going with them for batter and reso.
Looking forward to it. Also, where can I get the ARSE shirt?
It’s an amazing kit and shirt for that matter. Look up spaceaustralia.com.au
This is going to be sweet seeing on a full kit.
It’s going to be nuts.
What cymbal is this
Zildjian 20” Oriental Classic China.
@@IAMDRUMMER Thanks!
You are always welcome and thanks for commenting, greatly appreciate it.
High tuning sounds awesome!
The high tuning cuts like an absolute weapon but works really well at weddings.
Those Oriental Classic Chinas were MONSTERS. I always wanted the 20" pie
The 20”s do come up for sale mostly on reverb but man they can be pricey.
I had mine for at least 25 yrs … I can play any genre of music with it…. I play every weekend it sounds like day 1…😎
This was my go to ride for so long and ever since this video I had to start gigging with it again, still want a 22" model.
Amazing content! Would you still recommend the Edge?
Thank you so much and yes I love the edge snares so much so I bought the 50th anniversary.
Absolutely 💯 - GREAT EVERYTHING BRUH 🥁
Thanks brother.
noice.
I need to try some of those 15" Fat Hats.
Crunchy ? //I understand Chinese music. Good cymbals don't want harmonically,(long sound ).they want short sound, like splash.
It was very dirty and had a layer of “crunch” like crust over it.
I bought this cymbal back in 1991 when I was 17 years old. It always makes its way back to being my main ride cymbal.
Now that would have been an experience owning one from new at 17.
Sounds awesome, but wouldn’t work for my sound. Old Z custom power ride-
Those rides are monsters, have you tried the new Mega Bell?
Careful though, they're not very durable sadly
I know and that was their downfall in the end, I will be careful I promise….still want a 22” though.
now where's the halftime breakdowns???
If I did the China would slowly walk out the door.
Cymbal turned into symptom 🤧
It's now a clock.
No box??? WTH are they thinking? Lucky the cymbal came in one piece…
It was a first for me that’s for sure.
Good Day Sir. I just purchased one of these through reverb. It has two small rivet holes drilled without the rivets installed. Do you have any thoughts if the two small holes would be a negative effect on the overall sound, or do you think the holes might be too small to really be noticeable in the overall tone and sound....Many thanks for your time and feedback.
I don’t think it will make much of a difference sonically, I’ve heard cymbals with 20 rivet holes in them and they sound great.
@@IAMDRUMMER Many thanks for the feedback. I enjoy all your videos. They are very informative and have a good laugh to them as well. Well done.
Thank you so much for the kind words and I hope you play that ride soon, link me to a video if you do.
Man that’s so nice.
It’s an incredible piece that’s for sure.
Very well done, glad it’s been brought back to life.
